WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A FOLLOW-UP WITH ME

During our first meeting, we will discuss the goals and parameters of our follow-up, and I will answer any questions you might have. Together, we will look at my confidentiality form, which must be signed before the beginning of the appointment. We will then explore your reasons for consulting and furthermore explore your life and your sexual and relationship history to paint a comprehensive portrait of the situation affecting you. This evaluation will allow me to make specialized recommendations and put together an action plan for pursuing the goals that we set together. I will present my recommendations and action plan to you during our second appointment. We will review them to ensure that they are well-suited to your needs and modify them as needed.

It is important to note that counselling is different from psychotherapy. Counsellors, unlike psychotherapists, cannot provide medical treatments or cure sexual health issues. A counsellor’s aim is to offer you guidance and support during times of struggle and questioning. Some issues go beyond what a counsellor can offer, and may necessitate a reference to a psychotherapist.
